PRIVACY POLICY
Effective August 4, 2026
AMMORANGER collects almost nothing. This page describes what we store and how we handle your data across the price-alerts system, the user accounts system, and retailer reviews. We describe only practices AMMORANGER actually follows or has committed to follow.
Price Alerts and Accounts
When you create a price alert you provide your email address and your alert criteria, and we store both. Alerts are double opt-in: nothing is active until you click the confirmation link we email you, and unconfirmed alerts are deleted automatically if you don't confirm them. Each alert fires once — when a live listing crosses your target we send you one email, the alert cancels itself, and the alert and your email address are deleted from our servers, automatically. If you change your mind before an alert fires, the confirmation email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that deletes the alert and your email address. Once an alert fires, there is nothing left to unsubscribe from — the alert and your email address are deleted.
For user accounts, the following applies:
- What we collect — to create an account you provide your email address and choose a password. We store your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We do not collect your name, and we never collect payment information — AMMORANGER does not charge users or process payments.
- How we use it — your email address operates your account: signing in, verifying your email, and resetting your password. We do not send marketing email, and we never send text messages. Account emails — verification and password reset — are transactional: they have no unsubscribe link because they only ever arrive when you or someone using your email triggers them, and deleting your account ends them entirely.
- Email delivery — account and alert emails are sent from alerts@ammoranger.com through a third-party email delivery service, which receives your email address only to deliver these messages on our behalf.
- If you write a review — writing a retailer review is optional and requires a confirmed account. The first time you write one, you choose a public nickname that is displayed with your reviews. Your nickname is never your real name or email address, and we display neither. We store your nickname, your star rating, your review text, and the date. Your reviews and nickname are public.
- Deleting your account — you can delete your account at any time, yourself, from your account page. This removes your email address, your hashed password, and your sign-in sessions from our records. Any reviews you posted remain, disconnected from your deleted account; in place of your nickname we generally display a generic label such as "Former member."
- How long we keep it — we keep your account data (your email address and hashed password) for as long as your account exists, and no longer. We do not delete accounts for inactivity. When you delete your account, it is removed from our live systems; deleted data can persist briefly in routine encrypted backups of our database, which expire automatically and are never used to restore individual accounts. Reviews are the one exception: as public content others rely on, they remain after your account is deleted, disconnected from your account, with your nickname generally replaced by a generic label such as "Former member."
What Is Stored in Your Browser
- Theme preference — your dark/light choice is saved in your browser's local storage and in one cookie (
ammoranger_theme, kept for up to one year) so pages load in the right theme. - Session cookie (accounts only) — set only when you sign in to an AMMORANGER account, and removed when you sign out or delete your account. It exists solely to keep you signed in as you browse; it contains no tracking and we do not use it to follow you anywhere.
- Age confirmation — when you confirm you are 18 or older, that confirmation is kept in your browser's local storage for up to 30 days, then it expires and you are asked again. You can also clear it anytime via the Age Verification link in the site footer.
- Your last search — the caliber and ZIP code from your most recent search are kept in session storage and in the page URL so the back button works. They are deleted when you close the tab.
Your ZIP Code Stays on Your Device
When you enter a ZIP code, it is used entirely within your browser to estimate your state's sales tax. We never store your ZIP code. Because your ZIP appears in the page address (so your back button works), it can appear in routine server request logs the way any web address does — we do not read, use, or keep it.
Analytics Without Tracking
AMMORANGER measures site usage — visit counts, page views, referring sites, browser and device types, and approximate country-level location — using privacy-focused analytics. Our analytics never use cookies, never collect personal information, and never track you across other websites; only anonymous, aggregate data is recorded. Your IP address may be used momentarily to estimate your country and is not stored. Analytics data may be processed on our behalf by a third-party analytics provider, which receives it only to provide that service to us. We run no advertising pixels and no ad-targeting trackers. The one further exception is retailer click data, described below, which exists to compile aggregate click statistics and to support affiliate commission reconciliation, and is never tied to your identity. Like every website, the server that delivers our pages receives your IP address in order to respond to your request; we do not use it to identify or profile you.
No Sale of Data
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We share it only with the service providers needed to run AMMORANGER — such as email delivery and analytics services described on this page — and only so they can perform those services for us.
Affiliate Links and Click Data
When you click a retailer link on AMMORANGER, we record an anonymous click event. We use this to compile aggregate statistics about which retailers and products get clicks, and to reconcile affiliate commissions. The event records the listing you clicked — retailer, brand, product, caliber, round count, and price — but nothing about you: we attach no name, email, account, IP address, cookie, or device identifier, and we do not use it to track you across other sites.
Retailer links on AMMORANGER may be ordinary links or affiliate links, handled directly with retailers or through third-party affiliate networks. Where affiliate links are in use, the retailer or network may set their own cookies or record their own click data when you click through, to attribute the referral; that activity is governed by their privacy policies, not ours. Affiliate links never change what we record about you: our own click data remains anonymous, as described above, regardless of link type. Once you click through to a retailer you leave AMMORANGER and the retailer's own privacy policy applies. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how affiliate links work.
Changes to This Policy
If our data practices change, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the effective date above will reflect the latest version.
