.45 Super Ammo Prices
Somebody looked at the .45 ACP in the 1980s and decided it needed to hit harder without changing the outside dimensions at all. The .45 Super uses a beefed-up case to run far higher pressure in guns built to take it. It gives the old warhorse a serious velocity bump for hunters and hog shooters who wanted more out of a 1911 or a Glock. Same footprint. More thunder.
Loads run 185 to 255 grain in the modest offerings that exist. A specialty round priced above standard .45 in small boxes. The people who run it need a properly built pistol and they stock up whenever it appears because it never sits on shelves long.
