Cor-Bon necked a .45 ACP case down to .40 caliber in the 1990s to give 1911 shooters flatter trajectory and more velocity while reusing familiar hardware. It was a smart practical wildcat that went legitimate for a while then quietly faded as the market shrugged. A good idea that never quite found its crowd.

Loads run 135 to 165 grain in the scarce offerings that survive. A genuinely rare niche caliber priced accordingly in small boxes. The 1911 wildcat crowd mostly handloads and pounces on factory boxes when they appear.
