.38 S&W Ammo Prices

Not to be confused with its famous cousin the .38 Special because this old timer is shorter fatter and considerably more mild mannered. Introduced in 1877 it armed pocket revolvers and police forces back when a mustache was a serious commitment. The British pressed it into wartime service as the .38/200 and it soldiered on far longer than anyone planned.

Loads run 145 to 146 grain in soft lead almost entirely. A genuinely obsolete caliber kept alive for the old guns that need it. Supply is thin and pricey so owners of grandpa's revolver buy when they can.
