Another of the great 1874 dual purpose frontier rounds that fed both the Winchester lever guns and the Colt revolvers so a cowboy could run one cartridge in two guns. Despite the name it is actually a .40 caliber which is exactly the kind of confusing nonsense the old cartridge namers delighted in. Pure Old West character in every case.
Loads run 180 grain in soft lead cowboy offerings mostly. A niche caliber priced for its specialty status in small boxes. The single action shooting crowd keeps it alive and buys deep when the deals show.
