Winchester built this in 1964 as a modern replacement for the aging .220 Swift and the .219 Zipper and it was a perfectly good cartridge that the market almost immediately ignored in favor of the .22-250. A rimmed varmint round born at exactly the wrong moment. Competent and forgotten. Some cartridges just never catch the wind.

Factory ammunition is scarce and priced for its rarity in small boxes. This drifts toward handloader territory. The vintage rifle crowd who own one buy whenever the rare boxes surface.
